Phase 12

Success!!!

We did it!. Mike Steve and I spent last night getting the headphones working and then we actually recorded something. I know what you're thinking "Hey Joe, if you recorded something, let's hear it". Well, I would, but it was crap. Suffice it to say it was good enough to determine that everything worked and let's leave it at that, shall we?

The first clue that things are working? The green lights above the number 25. That means that there is a signal coming into the board.YAY!
Clue number 2? The little bars of light on the far left of the deck. In this case, it's showing that there is a recorded signal on track 2 and that track one is being recorded as we speak. You'll note that the display says "Mike Ladd", just in case we need to pin blame later on. Also, some of the more easily morally repulsed among you might notice that the effects unit above the deck says the number"69". At heart, we still have the juvenile mentality of 14 year old junior high school kids.
And there is laughing boy now. I bet your saying "Why the hell is there so much crap in the picture? "Well, this was taken through the window between the control room and studio 2. so you're seeing the reflection off the glass of the control room itself. Since we were recording, I couldn't go into the studio itself to take the photos.
Another shot of
the Man, the Myth, the Mike.
What was he singing? Well, it was one of his originals, the words to which I generally draw a blank on even if I'm reading them along with the song. I'm sure it was the usual multi-polysyllabic sturm and drang about how much life sucks and the damn government is always trying to screw ya.
Since I was actually doing the engineering (for lack of a better word), Steve took it upon himself to take over the camera chores. This is one of his pictures. The others were worse. This is why these things should always be left to the pros.
And finally, the money shot. Yes, that's me. My chubby little fingers reaching for the master aux send I believe. Why is stonehenge on the computer? The computer is not actually used while recording, so we needed to have something on there and naked women seemed too obvious (not to me, that was my choice). Stonehenge is our little tribute to Spinal Tap. I'm sure none of you have even noticed that though, because in truth you're all looking at the back of my head and thinking "What the hell is that thing? A tumor?" No, it's not a tumor, but it does make shaving my head an adventure.

That's it for this week. Not a lot to show because most of the night involved taping things and then listening to them. As soon as we have something worthwhile to post, we'll put up an audio clip so you can hear what all the fuss has been about.Till then, tah tah
